Why I Turned To Clean Beauty
Why I Turned To Clean Beauty

When I got pregnant, I researched how to have a healthy, safe pregnancy. I decided to start eating more organic foods to avoid pesticides and using natural household cleaners. I looked into the more natural skincare products for my baby as well as diapers made without chemicals.
I tossed products with ingredients I couldn’t pronounce and started to look at labels. I was on my way to a cleaner, healthier lifestyle.
I truly believed that if the product said no phthalates or parabens that I was using a clean, safe product. I used these products for years thinking they were good for me and my family.
I now have three boys and have learned a lot these past twelve years. There is way too much greenwashing going on in the market. Organic and clean aren’t the same thing, and even the word “natural” can be very misleading! While it was definitely a learning curve, I learned a lot along the way and have managed to remove most synthetic chemicals and toxins from my household and self-care routines, and you can too!
So how do you find clean beauty products? There are many bloggers that are constantly reviewing and giving their thoughts on products as they come on the market. Just make sure you look at ingredients because what may be fine for a blogger may not be for you. Follow clean beauty brands on social media to know when new products launch. There are sites that rate products from best to worst but I am skeptical.
It saddens me when companies start out with good intentions and then greed takes away their integrity. My favorite way to tell if a product is truly clean is by using The Switch Natural app. Download the app here and scan away! I use this app daily.

When it comes to beauty and personal care products, it is more than just looking for what to avoid. You should find brands you can trust that are clean as well as transparent. Transparency is most important in my opinion. Over the years, I have found several that work well for my family, including Oliveda, Merit, RMS, VOOQU and Piper Blue Organics to name a few. I will continue to share new brands that I try and love.
So, why did I switch to clean beauty? When you look at how misleading the beauty industry is, it is obvious the industry has many flaws. It is important to me to use safe products so that my family stays healthy and safe.
My goal is to educate you on the importance of using clean products. Take a look at your products; read the labels.
